Yesterday I was reading Kevin Trudeau's - Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About.
In the section on stress, he talks about how laughter is one of the most powerfully beneficial things you can do. Laughter actually helps to alkalize the body. It's a great stress antidote.
So last night I decided to prescribe myself some laughter.
I went to Youtube and typed "funny" in the search box. A large list of funny videos popped up. I found this one particularly hilarious. I'm also a fan of "clean" humor.
In Trudeau's book he states:
Children laugh about 10,000 times per week
Adults laugh about 5 times per week
Maybe that's one reason kids have so much more energy!
So I'm dedicating myself to laugh more often, sharing jokes with friends, watching a funny video, doing laughter yoga and just being more lighthearted!
An example of how laughter effects a serious illness is Norman Cousin's book, "Anatomy of an Illness".
Cousins had a very serious and painful disorder of the connective tissue collagen (his cells were literally, coming apart). The pain medications doctors gave him were seldom effective and he was often in excruciating pain. Doctors set his recovery chances at one in 500.
Cousins decided that humor might help. He arranged for videotapes of old Candid Camera and various comedy shows to be shown at his bedside. After a few hours of belly-laughing fun, Cousins was entirely pain-free for hours more, and sometimes even days. And despite the odds, he ultimately recovered.
